Boot Camp for Print Designers
Boot Camp for Print
Designers will help graphic designers prepare their files for commercial
printers. Attendees will also learn about the current state of the printing
industry and how to work with commercial printers efficiently and
professionally. It is a session for designers who know little about printers
and how they work.
Attendees will learn:
How to prepare files for printers
Current trends in graphic design
Common file problems and how to prevent them
An overview of the US printing industry and how it's evolving
Best resources for keeping up with print
Quantification of the design market
New printing technologies
This is the latest in PBI's series of Boot Camps. "More and more designers are responsible for sourcing print, yet few of them have any training in how to work with commercial printers," said PBI founder Dana. "Frank and I look forward to helping educate designers about the printing industry. I think their printers will thank us!"
"This new Boot Camp is a "Cliff Notes" for graphic designers," noted Romano. "It will highlight print production trends and tips, and review new roles for the traditional print designer - especially print and media buying."

Boot Camp for Print Reps
Boot Camp for Print Reps is a
unique program designed to help print reps, print company CEOs, and CSRs
understand corporate print buyers and how their buying practices and behaviors
have changed in this economy.
This three-hour session was designed to help printers appreciate how print buyers work and what their challenges are regarding sourcing and managing print.
Attendees will learn:
What print buyers want from printers
The effects of the recession on professional print buyers
How to communicate with print buyers
How buyers' roles are radically evolving
Where the hot markets are for digital print
This will be the third time this Boot Camp has taken place. Past attendees have all praised this sessions. Brian Solov of Microprint wrote, "I enjoyed the Boot Camp and found the insight you gave into mind of today's print buyers fascinating. Particularly the pressures they have with regard to job security and the need they have to diversify their skill set. Also, it was a call to action to update my website and "hug" my clients more frequently and consistently." Tim Boucher of B Squared, Inc., wrote, "100% one of the best seminars I have gone to in the last 5 years."
