SUMMARY: The Buyer I - Resalables is responsible for supply orders, replenishing inventory, and maintaining vendor relationship for assigned Purchased Items. This buyer will work with print, POP and hardgoods.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for assigned product specifications, vendor proofs and quotations, purchase orders, inventory maintenance, quality checks and schedules.

  • Gather specifications and coordinate the production of a variety of goods in accordance with needs established via departmental requests.

  • Prepare technical specifications, solicit quotations, negotiate pricing and schedules, specify materials, adhere to deadlines and shipping requirements.

  • Prepare purchase orders, approve invoices and manage receiving, and work on issue resolution with Finance.

  • Responsible to maintain inventory levels through reprint and standard inventory replenishment purchase.

  • Orders and to coordinate inventory levels for like-item new orders and the Marketing redesign schedule.

  • Monitor vendor performance throughout and work to resolve issues. Provide vendor follow up once purchase orders have been issued to ensure timely delivery and adherence to specifications.

  • Manage archives of samples, files and other data so that it is easily accessible and up to date, both physical data and electronic data.

  • Facilitate communication between the Purchased Items Team and other departments.

  • Perform Quality Control steps and advise the Distribution Center of product storage and receiving specifications.

  • Work with PeopleSoft and with our digital workflow platform (ERA, FTP, Asset Manager and Tracker software) which is a database environment.

  • Support Print Buyers and PI Buyers with coordinating schedules, specifications and cost analysis reports, primarily the Wholesale and Consumer Direct Items. In addition, support PI team with requests for bid, quotations and purchase orders.

  • Attend CB meetings and PIT meetings, as assigned

  • Participate in site visits, cost analysis and assist with materials sourcing.

  • Interact with outside vendors and manufacturing within the guidelines set forth for the department and the company.

  • Participate in company committees for process improvement or cross-functional interaction.

OTHER NECESSARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Generate meeting minutes and agenda documents for interdepartmental meetings

  • Facilitate communication, including documentation management, between Marketing and Purchasing as outlined in process documentation.

  • Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by GMCR and the department.

  • Performs other duties as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in Business, Graphic Arts, Communication or related experience in the field preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a buying role, or other relevant experience.

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, quality and strong organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with a variety of print terms, concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Ability to work with both creative and financial departments to determine and interpret business needs.

  • Strong problem solving skills, both quantitative and qualitative.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet challenging deadlines.

  • Strong math skills and some experience with budget management.

  • Strong computer skills -database and PeopleSoft would be ideal.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instructions.

  • Ability to follow GMCR policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to sit/stand at a PC workstation. Heavy keyboarding and visual computer screen work required.

  • Ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Predominately sedentary light office position with high frequency of keyboarding/computer work required (67% - 100% of the workday).
